Who really is the boss?

A house, to become strong and firm, needs stable foundation molded by the family’s love for each other and carved by the challenges faced and overcame by the family as a whole.
With the presence of love, a house becomes a home where every dream is created and memories are shared and cherished.

For a certain household to bloom and prosper there must
be strong and dependable parents who will nourish every member of the family.

Educational institutions are like houses that need a strong foundation which can be seen through its highly-qualified professional teachers who will mold the hope of the nation and soon the world.

Teachers are said to be part of the teaching and learning process which entails not just teaching but also managing the class, and acting as second parents who will serve as the guide of the students in the school.

 Also, teachers have to constantly keep in touch with the parents to monitor the progress of their child. What if they are too concern about their child’s progress and want you to solely focus on their child instead of the entire classroom while they are not making any efforts to help their child cope with their difficulties.

 A teacher may face this scenario with parents and also with their bosses who directs them what to do. In these cases, who really is the boss, the child who needs attention, the parents who demand, the boss who directs you or the call of teaching that the teacher sworn to do with all his/her heart and mind for the sake of learning?

 Teachers must be respected since they swore to devote their lifetime for the sake of learning and molding the nation’s hope.

 If you are asking who really the boss is, it is the passion for teaching and not anyone else!

GENRE v1.1

Genre is about the specific type or classification pertaining to music, literature and other related fields. Our very own genre signifies our taste and style which may define our personality and capacities. 

Genres are formed through social agreement that vary over time resulting to new and fitting genres that enrich our culture. 

Through the years, we have been hooked with different genres which played great role in our society especially in socialization and choosing our social groups. 

This blog was entitled GENRE which signifies the author’s passion for music and literature especially literary criticisms. The author envisions that GENRE will be known for modern literary poems, stories and other literary pieces that will benefit our educational system especially as springboard for language and writing subjects while showcasing Filipinos’ creativity and culture. 

It might be very ambitious but the author believes and adheres that its vision can be realized through your cooperation especially in sending your very own literary articles to be featured in this blog. 

Philippines is consists of different islands with diverse culture and ethnicity which are worth studying. This archipelago may be separated by miles of oceans, but we can stand to pave our way to unity through collaborative efforts in rebuilding bridges of understanding while revisiting the past, gearing-up the future and relishing the present.

Roots and Root System

Roots are one of the essential parts of a plant. It absorbs water and dissolved nutrients from the soil and transports it to the different parts of the plant. Also, one of its important roles is to anchor or hold the plant in place so that it does not fall over.

There are two types of root systems, the taproot and fibrous root system. Taproot system forms when the primary root or the first root of a plant grows directly down into the soil and becomes the main root, where the secondary roots branch off.  Most di-cotyledons such as beans and carrots have taproots.

A fibrous root system forms when the primary root is replaced by a number of roots, all of similar thickness. These roots look like a mass of fibers growing into the soil in all directions. Monocotyledons such as grasses and corn have fibrous roots.

Taproots are deep-rooted than the fibrous roots. By understanding the nature of the roots, the farmers and gardeners are able to transport plants in different areas without damaging the plant. Plants with fibrous roots are easier to transplant because they have many roots and, if some are damaged, they can rely on others to absorb water and nutrients.

Plants with taproots are far more difficult to transplant because they rely solely on one root and that root often penetrates deep into the ground, making it very difficult to remove without severely damaging it.

One way of determining if a plant has taproot or fibrous roots is through their leaf veins pattern. If it has netted venation of netted patterns on the leaf veins, it is classified as taproot. On the other hand, if it has parallel venation or the leaf veins pattern are going to one direction (parallel to the midrib of the leaf.)

Most plants have roots, but there are some exceptions like the bryophytes and the groups of green algae that are classified as plants.

Bryophytes have root-like structures called rhizoids for absorbing water, but because rhizoids lack vascular tissue they are not considered roots.

How Technology Helps Me on My Job

Learners in the 20th century are adept to information and communications technology skills which allow them to learn whenever and wherever the circumstances permitted to.

As mentioned by M.C.Dumaya (2015) in her blog entitled Crossover, technology is now considered as men’s best friend which is particularly becoming true due to continuous flourishing of technology as it is made available to everybody through mobile technology.

As part of this era, teachers are expected to jive with these trends in order to be more flexible and fitting to the world of teaching especially in meeting the needs of the learners.

Through technology teachers were able to organize and facilitate learning especially in teaching lessons that pose hazards when observed in its natural setting.

With the use of technology, I was able to provide my students with relevant and updated information that are responsive to the trends in the real-world set-up which is one of the primary roles of education. 

As teachers, we have to let our learners discern what is real and what is trivial and lead them in drawing a picture of what it is alike after schooling.

Technology poses advantages for teachers but we cannot erase the fact that it has also risks for our learners that needs to be considered. 

It has provided me the hope of realizing what my job has entrusted me, which is to shape the future leaders of our nation, and at the same time, it has given me the anxiety that technology could also guide them to the exact opposite.

Just another Story

There are two generalized status in this world as conceptualized and developed by American anthropologist Ralph Linton. The first one is the ACHIEVED status that is earned or chosen while the other one is the ASCRIBED status which is fixed or assigned to individuals or groups based on traits beyond their control, such as sex, race, or parental social status.

We can be born rich, which is considered as ascribed status as it is tagged to us beyond our control or we can be the opposite which are product of poverty and no education.

Whether it is ascribed or achieved, we were given equal opportunities in life which is to take a stand and make a change.

Just a little introduction, the story of my life is another story.. :)

What Technology Offers to Humanity?


We are living in a world where everything is in rapid phase, a world where everything seems to be as instant as instant coffee, where the only precious things are love and happiness.

In order to achieve our own happiness, people developed different tools that will help them attain their dreams and aspirations in life. People created various apparatuses that would provide them faster way to keep in touched with their loved ones and easier mode of living which, at present, we referred to as technology.

Technology has been defined as the manner of accomplishing a task especially using technical processes, methods, or knowledge (Merriam-Webster, 1997). On the other hand, The Concise English Dictionary insists that it is also the application of knowledge to the practical aims of human life or to changing and manipulating the human environment.

With this fast approaching globalization, technology became one of the partners of humanity in improving our lives especially in minimizing human labor due to machines and tools as products of technology.

Technology offered a lot of potentials for man to live in the fullest, but in the process, it has produced negative effects on the sustainability of our environment. Its improper utilization resulted to excessive waste materials that threaten the existence different life forms on earth, including humanity.

There are different hazards technology poses not just on our environment but also in human behavior. Rifkin (2000), insisted that technology, especially in using computers, can also be harmful to our behavior as we tend to become immoral because of its sexual and violent contents.

In education, it is utilized to provide meaningful learning experiences to pupils. While learning takes place, the real meaning of technology was realized and served its real purpose which is to serve not harm the people.

Today's technology offered adolescents a bridge from concrete to abstract thinking, enabling them to observe and create multiple representations of mathematical ideas: numerically, graphically, and symbolically (Jarrett, 1998).

Technology provided another way for teachers to respond to students' diversity in terms of intelligence and learning styles through the use of various materials that would satisfy the students’ need by engaging them in tactile, visual, and auditory activities through the use of multimedia materials.

With the use of multimedia materials, new ideas and knowledge are produced in multi-level learning personally experienced by the child in the four corners of classroom as part of the products of technology.

Technology is considered as one of the best buddy of teachers in honing the child holistically. It is nice to see how pupils learn and develop in the three domains of learning but attaining this goal can’t be easily achieved. 

There are many factors that affect technology implementation, especially in urban schools (Means, Penuel, & Padilla, 2001) which includes (1) lack of technology infrastructure, (2) lack of technical support, (3) teacher discomfort with technology, etc.

It is indeed true that technology has been very useful to us. It helped our ancestors built civilization and developed various things that will help us live comfortably, but, it could also be the very reason for people to perish at any moment when we abuse this product of our creative minds.
